FM15: Spartans FC Save Story Update 2024/2025: Three trophies & Europa League Semi Final

Nineteen matches – 45 points & 8 points ahead of Celtic. That was our „starting position“ in January before the second part of the 2024/2025 season. We have very demanding schedule because we played the SPL, FA Cup, League Cup & Europa League. And it’s crazy but we won three domestic competitions again. And what about Europa League? A great succes thanks to the participation in Semi Final.

Scottish Premier League

We suffered only three lost in this league campaign. Brian McShane became the best goalscorer with 24 goals. Spartans clinched the title five games before the end and we finished season fifteen poinst ahead of Celtic. Great season for us in the Premier League!

FA Cup

We started the FA Cup campaign with Lothian Thistle in the 4th Round (5-0). After that we beat Dundee United 2-1, Glasgow Rangers 2-1 and Celtic after penalties in the Semi Final. Same as in the League Cup we beat Motherwell in the Final thanks to a penalty kick by Brian McShane in the first half.

League Cup

Spartans FC started the League Cup campaign with Stenhousemuir from League 1 in the 3rd Round. And it was very comfortable win thanks to four goals by Shaun May. In quarterfinal we played against Dundee FC and we won 4-0 thanks to a goals by four different players. In semifinal we met with Celtic and it was pleasing victory 2-0 (goals by Graham Paterson and Alisdair Sutherland).

The final was the most dramatical match in this League Cup campaign. Brian McShane scored the first goal but Motherwell leveled thanks to Contreras. But we scored three goals in the second half of the Extra-time – Linton, Sutherland & Milne. The final score was 4-1 for Spartans FC!

Europa League

We could play Europa League thanks to a third place in the Champions League group stage. We gradualy beat Wolfsburg, Olympiacos and Olympique Marseille in the quarterfinals after a big battle as well. We were knocked out by PSG in the Semi Final after two lost (3-4 & 3-6). It was a great result for a small club, which we still are.

Youth Intake 2025

Another misery. In the first two or three seasons we have had a very good Youth Intake but the past few years is very bad. Its largest share to the poor financial situation that makes it impossible to improve training and youth facilities. Not until this improves, we can not even expect better young players.

Before the new season the club will bring several new youth coaches and new Scouts. I believe that it will improve in the coming years. Thanks to the fact that I finally convinced the club to improve youth facilities. Still, it is possible that I can fulfill one of the goals of the game, which was to play with players from own academy. There is still a long road ahead.

Finance

Thanks to the prize money for the participation in the European Cups and winning the league we have more than 10 million pounds for the first time, but the question is, how long it lasts. Salary budget is currently £ 100,000 a week (two thirds are filled).

Easter Road Stadium with capacity around twenty thousand seats was very heplful for us. We have average attendace about ten thousand spectators on the league games. Our stadium has a 5000 capacity but only less than hal fis sitting. We will not play there european cups which is precisely good for our finances because we can earn more money if we get to the Champions League/Europa League group stage again.

Prize money – total: £13,899,236

  • Scottish Premiership – £3,535,790
  • Scottish FA Cup – £139,128
