FM15: Spartans FC Update – 2029/2030: Still waiting for Champions League glory

Spartans FC is unbeatable team in Scotland. We won all three domestic competitions without defeat again. Only difference was that we were unable to win every league matches same as in the last two seasons. But even so we won the Scottish Premier League eleven points ahead of Celtic and twenty seven points ahead of Motherwell.

Transfers 2029/2030

It was little depresing summer for us because we lost our key players. Our best goalscorer John Smith moved to Tottenham Hotspur for a fee around 19M £. That’s our record transfer fee received and we can not compete with Tottenham and keep him in our team.

Our best defender Kieran Linton joined Sheffield United for a fee around 5,5M £ and this one was big loss for us as well because Kieran not missed single game for a three last seasons. Same as every year there were a lot of on-loan deals including two to Livingston. This Championship side became our Affiliated club.

During winter transfer window long-serving midfielder Paul Wilson moved to Aberdeen. Thirty-one year old player was nine seasons with us and was key player couple of seasons.

On other side we signed three new players. Two attacking midfielders Blas Ibáňez and Darko Popovic and sixteen years old forward Michael McLaughlin from St. Johnstone where he stay on-loan for this season.

Scottish League Cup

It’s same story every year. Only one question is in which round we will play against Celtic and if beat them we will win whole competition. We beat Dunde 1-0 after extra-time, 2-0 Aberdeen and 3-1 Celtic in the Semi Final. The Final against Dundee United was unnecessarily dramatic. We were 2-0 up ten minutes before final whistle but we conceded two late goals. Thankfully we were luckier side in the penalties.

Scottish FA Cup

There were comfortbale wins over Motherwell (3-1) and St. Mirren in the 4th and 5th Round. We were very lucky in the Qtr Final against Kilmarnock. We played with some youngsters and we managed to equalise in stoppage time. In home reply we won 2-0 and we beat 4-0 Partick Thistle in the Semi Final.

We met Celtic in the Final in Hampden Park and it was crazy match. We were 1-0 up, 1-2 down and we won 4-3 after extra-time. Manolo Melgares scored a hattrick for Celtic. He was one of the best player in whole season. We won FA Cup for the seven time in a row.

Champions League

We have been drawn in Group A for this year along with Bayern, Grasshoppers and Shaktar. After the lost in the first match with Bayern we beat Grasshoppers and Shaktar. We lost to Ukraine side away but after wins against Bayern and Grasshoppers we won the Group.

We hadn’t too much luck during the draw and we met Manchester City in the 1st Knockout stage. We lost the first match in Manchester 1-2 but after excellent display in the second leg we were through to the Quarter Final. But…

…we met another european giant – Paris Saint-Germain. We lost the fist match 2-3 at home and we were unable to score in the second leg so we were knocked out of the competition just in the Quarter Final. We did not repeat to participate in the Semi Final last year.

Scottish Premier League

After two seasons without loss single point there were not too succesful season this time. We recorded thirteen draws from 38 matches. But any lost. We scored 77 goals which is 54 less then last year and conceded 20 goals which is 9 less then last season.

We ended league eleven points ahead of Celtic, twenty seven points ahed of Mottherwell and thirty seven points ahead of Ross County.

There were some great results as 5-0 win over Rangers or 6-0 win over Hearts but compared to previous seasons it was not to ofensive and too succesful season. But this is due to the fact that we set the bar too high. It’s our seven league title in a row…
