When the first half of the 2016/2017 season finished we were among the teams who were in race to promotion to the Danish Superliga. We played very good football in the spring part of the season but we not reached promotion spot after the last league round. It might seem like a disappointment but I’m very happy with our fifth place in the league because: it would be too fast progress & we played many matches with youngsters and we wanted to develope them.
Another two players left the club for a free during winter break. Because of some injuries we had to brought two players on-loan. Eighteen years old midfielder Magnus Mattsson from Silkeborg IF and 21 years old winger or striker Anders Thomsen from Odense BK. Both of them were among the starting line-up.
Youth Intake 2016/2017
The most important moment in the season came at the start of the March when new young players arrived to the club. The Youth Team Candidates played against our Under-19 team and won 3-1.
There are again some very interesting players and you can see three of them bellow. Nichlas Meyer will be in the senior squad for next season.
Friendlies & DBU Pokalen
The pre-season is very important for us because we have to arrange friendly league(s) or friendly cup(s) because we need money from gate receipt and tv revenue. You can read more about that in previous part. This time we played matches against Viking FK, CSMS Iasi, SK Brann, Odds BK, IK Start, Stromsgodset, Hellerup and Pogon Szczecin. We earned £529,801 thanks to these matches.
After friendly matches we played the Quarter Final of DBU Pokalen against FC Kobenhavn at home. There were 5,657 fans at our stadium and they saw a comfortable 2-0 win by FC Kobenhavn thanks to two goals by Andreas Cornelius.
We had not good start to the second part of the season because we lost the first three league matches. We were defeated by AC Horsens, FC Nordsjaelland and Silkeborg. But the most important thing was that we not scored goal in these matches.
I lost my faith in some experience players and I finaly decided that our regens will play big part in the rest of the league matches despite their current abillity not match abillities of some older players.
And I’m very happy for this decision because it was like a new motivation the game. It was great to watch how youngsters were better and better after every match.
We were able to not lost nine matches in a row including wins over Naestved, Vendsyssel, Thisted and AC Horsens. There were five draws including a 2-2 draw with Hvidovre. We were a 2-0 down after the half-time but we did not give up.
We were the third in the league after the 1-0 lost to FC Nordsjaelland and a 1-0 win against Silkeborg in the last home match of the season. It was clear – if we win the last match we would have gone to the Play-off. But were not able to win the last match against Vendsyssel.
The home team were 1-0 up in the 14th minute thanks to a Bjarke Jacobsen. We played this match with six players with age of 16 in starting XI and average age of 19 in overall. And we equalised thanks to a attack by two of them.
Carsten Kanstrup passed the ball from right side to the far post and left winger Oliver Daugaard scored with his header. There was no goal until the end of the game and we finished the season as fifth team of the NordicBet Liga.
As I wrote we played the mostly with the youngsters during second part of the season and after last match there were seven players from our “academy” which made their debut for the club during 2016/2017 season.
It was these players – Simon Svoboda, Henrik Nielsen, Oliver Daugaard, René Kirkegaard, Christian Petersen, Kim Hansen and Carsten Kanstrup. The last one played 16 matches, scored one goal and made three assists.
We scored 56 league goals, the most from all teams. We also “won” the rating of Most Fouls Made :- ) We made 485 fouls during this season. Our Average Attendance was 1101 with 7% Average Attendance by Capacity.
And what about players? Our striker Nichlas Rohde was Top Goalscorer with 23 league goals. Midfielder Adnan Mohammad made Most Assists (10) and goalkeeper Alexander Nybo had Most Clean Sheets (10). Defender Marc Maze had 5.72 Tackles per Match.
Nichlas Rohde was the best league goalscorer with 23 goals in 28 apperances and he scored a goal every 102 minutes. He scored 23 league goals with 55 shots on target.
Striker Nichlas Rohde was voted as Fan’s Player of the Season with 46% votes. Defender Morten Fraysse was voted as the best Signing of the Season and Mathias Jensen was voted as the best Young Player of the Season.
Carlos Shiralipour, Adnan Mohammad and Nichlas Rohde were selected in the Danish NordicBet Team of the Year.
What about next season? There will be some changes in the squad and some players will leave the club like every year. I will give a chance to another group of youngsters and our team will be younger than this season.
We will want to finish in the top-half of the table, everyone in the squad is happy with this objective.
Thanks for reading. @KeysiRensie.
