FM16: “The Academics” – part XXX – winter transfer window 2031

As I wrote in the previous part of this save the 2030/2031 season is divided to more parts. This part is about our transfers during winter break and there was another one thing to celebrate.

Our midfielder Neil Paterson was voted European Golden Boy same as Martin Hansen last year. It’s great honour for our club…

European Golden Boy

Let’s start with this award. Neil Paterson is left midfielder and he came to our club during 2027/2028 season as 18-years old Rangers academy graduate. We signed him for 450K and he developed into great midfielder. He played around 70 matches during last three years and scored 10+ goals and made 20+ assists.

The funny thing is that he is not the number one at the left midfield. Even we would have the best player from the whole world Nichlas Meyer would play in the starting XI until he will retire :)

So, Paterson is waiting for his chance but he play very often as substitute or when Meyer is fatigued. Paterson was lucky that Meyer had some injury problems during last calendar year so he started in more matches than normal.

He won the European Golden Boy award after he played 35 matches in all competitions and scored 11 goals included some matches in Scotland Under 21 national team. He had average rating of 7.75.

Winter Transfers 2030/2031

This transfer window was a very specific because of one simple reason – we spent a lot of money and that’s not normal!

I wanted some fresh blood in the squad so I bought eight new players. The most expensive one was a young French midfielder Jérémy Dupuy who will play as a Roaming Playmaker. Another new youngster is Dutch Full Back Claudio Djemesi from Feyenoord.

f332f525fc123dc2c06f1abe50e14e08We also bought two youngsters from FC Kobenhavn – Tommy Mogensen and Peter Jessen – both for the future. The same case is a transfer of Jan Bagger from Lyngby.

Some of our scouts watched many Under 19 matches around the Europe so I have many options from different countries. I was impressed with left back Nikola Mitrovic who is a member of Serbian Under 21 national team and we signed him from Olympiakos. Another Serbian is young goalkeeper Rajko Andric.

The last trasnfer was emergency one as René Sondergaard, our #1 central defender is injured for eight weeks, so we bought Uffe Hansen from Brondby.

Take a look at the screenshots and let me know what do you think about new players…

Record transfer fee…

There were also some departures including loans, free transfers and two “money” transfers. Young defender Kasper Holm was wanted by many european clubs despite he was not our best defender. After some negotiations he signed for AC Milan and we have 40% from his next transfer.

But the main transfer was a departure of Killian Lagache. This 24-years old defender who can play also as CD/DM/CM. He signed with Chelsea for a fee around 26M. It’s a new club record sale. The previous record was deal of Jesper Curth who was sold to Wolfsburg for 17M.
