#FM17 | Best header Free Kick Routine

Last year I published articles about Attacking & Defensive Free Kick Routines as it was a new one in FM16 and we are able to set up three different set piece routines. This year is no different as tactics, training system or set piece creator is without major changes.

I set up some routines and this is one of them. It’s attacking free kick “Best header” routine.

Set up is very simplet as left foot player crosses ball from the left side and right footed from right side. There is also one player “stay with taker” and one “disrupt wall” in case cross will be blocked or ditched by defending players.

Two or three players stay back and the rest – 5 players go forward. The most important is to have the best headers at these positions in or around the penalty area. As you can see I have two strikers and three defenders here. All of them have 12+ Heading attribute.

It’s also good to have high Jumping Reach, Bravery, Decisions and Off The Ball attributes. The last one is very important in my eyes as to find the best place for finishing is not too easy.

As there were only two-man wall no our players disrupted the wall and because it was free kick from the tigh left side no our player stayed with the taker.

In our example from my save with Reading FC in FM17 Beta, left back Jordan Obita crossed ball to the penalty area and there were Paul McShane, Tyler Blackett and Andrija Novakovich who wanted to find the best place and score.

It was Paul McShane who found the cross and scored with the well placed header…

If you download these Free Kicks Routines and you want to use them in game you have to put files to this directory: C:\Users\user\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2017\set pieces. In game you have to go to Tactics/Set Pieces/Free Kicks and Load Routine(s).

Thanks for reading, @KeysiRensie.
