My prayers have been answered regarding Alfred Austin. It wasn’t a recurrence of the ankle injury that has plagued the last month but a deep cut to his temple.
The medical team (a guy who also works for Carlsberg) has managed to get a protective mask for the striker to wear which will hopefully get him through the next two games.
The Big Two
Frem away is the penultimate game of the season, they too have a shot at a top four finish so its going to be tough game to get anything from.
We are at full strength and once again will go into the game playing our favoured 4-1-2-2-1 formation, Still opting for the we will score more than you philosophy.
Frem 2-2 Fredensborg
So so close to a fantastic victory. It was dangled in front of me like a cat playing with a mouse. When Niklas Marloth scored a screamer in the 87th minute to put us 2-1 up I felt like dancing Pardew style. We brought everybody back, told the boys to concentrate and stick it out for at most 5 more minutes. We just couldn’t do it. Mikael Anderson for Frem hits a 93rd minute 25 yard grass cutter that finds the bottom corner, with that we drop from third to fifth.
We have 6 days no wait we are an amateur club so we actually only have one training session on Tuesday night to try and pick the boys up.
We need to win, the other two clubs with eyes on the top 4 are playing the bottom two sides in the league so I have no doubt they will win their respective games.
Holbaek beat us on our own patch earlier in the season and effectively started this inconsistent run we have been on. The only change we make is to switch Schmidt and Marloth over on the wings.
Holbaek 0-7 Fredensborg
Wow! If I had known switching wingers would have this effect I’d have done it weeks ago. But seriously what a performance. 4-0 at the break, Austin nets a hat trick and we stroll back into the top 4 on the last weekend of the season. Couldn’t be happier.
Once the dust had settled from that crazy final day things have turned a little strange. We appear to be in a new league format called the ‘Second Division Pro Stage’ in which we already have 5 points and a -3 goal difference. Middlefart (what a name) are top on 14 points and yet it says nobody has played a game.
The squad have now left on a mid-season break and I’m told that the next 3 months of darkness and freezing temperatures will be like nothing I’ve ever seen or felt.
As the snow begins to fall I decide that I’ll use this time to scout players, Improve my own coaching qualifications and prepare for this whole new chapter of football that lays before me.
I’ll probably drink a lot too, it gets dark at 3!
