Rangers: Road to the UEFA Europa League Final 2020

Road to the UEFA Europa League Final 2020

Football Manager 2017     Rangers Badge - 1

Foreword

Two successful domestic seasons have passed following the move from TSG Hoffenheim to my boyhood club – Glasgow Rangers.

Europa League Badge - 2

My initial remit was to stabilize the club, build a strong group of Scottish nationals, with the view to developing and nurturing a starting eleven, born-and-bred within a 30-mile radius of Ibrox Stadium.

Could we exorcize the demons of Manchester 2008, where Walter Smith’s men were defeated two goals to nil by Russian side – Zenit St. Petersburg in the UEFA Cup Final… Continue reading

How I prepare for a Champions League final

barca header

Introduction

When it comes to a game of the magnitude of a Champions League final, arguably the biggest fixture outside of the World Cup final, I tend to put a bit more effort into my preparations. Rather than wholly rely on my scout reports, I will also watch a couple of my oppositions recent matches.

We had a week to prepare, having finished the season with an emphatic 5-1 home win against Real Madrid to complete an invincible domestic season.

FM17 | Reading FC | part XXXVIII | 2034-2037

Three years later. Three virtual seasons were played in the Football Manager 2017 save with Reading FC. Many new young our own players made it from youth to the first team and some of them are already our key players and they deserve some attention. If you’re still interested in this save you can read about everything that happened during the last three years.

FM17 | Near Post Corner Kick Routine

If you played Football Manager 2015 or 2016 you probably know there were a lot of goals thanks to Near Post Corner Kick routine. It was very effective to put there your best header and also a player with good off the ball movement attribute and strength guy and he has done the rest.

As I created some routines during the Football Manager I decided to try this once again too.

Fredensborg – Season 4 drips to an end!

It’s been a fabulous first season in the Superliga but the last 10 games were drawn out into a disappointing end. A very quick recap of the remaining 3 months in Denmark.

On the results front my school report would say ‘Tries very hard but more needed to reach the next step in his education’.

header image filters FMFootbalmanager

Introduction

Transfers do not happen by mistake. For me, they are the effect of fastidious scouting, aided by a comprehensive collection of filters and shortlists.

This is a guide to filters and shortlists in Football Manager 2017. In this piece, I will talk through a crucial set of in-game tools at my disposal to help with one of the most significant tasks I have as manager; strengthening my squad through thoroughly scouted acquisitions.

FM17 | False Short Corner Kick Routine

Some time ago I wrote a post about things I do before every pre-season in Football Manager for thehighertempopress.com. One of them were Set Pieces and theirs review after the end of the season.

I wrote about my successful Short Corner Kick Routine a couple of months ago on my blog and this routine is still very effective. As my save with Reading continues I like to try new formations and things in overall. I also decided to create a new Corner Kick Routine called “False Short Corner Kick Routine”.

FM17 | What could happen when your Judging Player Potential attribute drops to 0

I think all of us know this situation. You have an average Youth Intake with one or two players with some potential, you are disappointed you don’t have a new wonderkid in your youth team and you decide to not offer contracts to almost all of new young players because they are not good enough.

I had it many times in my saves in the past and this year’s save with Reading FC is not different.
