FM Slack Tactics Challenge | Lechia Gdańsk

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the second post about Football Manager Slack Tactics Challenge. After challenges with Nice and Anzhi, this time we took over Polish side Lechia Gdańsk with a 4-4-2 formation and to use Target Man and Poacher was a must.

FM17 Tactic | Inverted Christmas Tree

Time from time I have to play something other than only my main save in concrete Football Manager. It’s not different in FM17 as I played for example with AEK or with Anzhi within FM Slack Tactics Challenge.

And a few weeks ago I made a step to the dark side as Guido like to say. Yes, you’re right. I decided to play with strikerless tactics.

FM Slack Tactics Challenge | FC Anzhi Makhachkala

As you may know we have Football Manager Slack community. This platform offers to all of us absolutely fantastic way how to talk between us and maybe more importantly it’s great way how to learn something new.

One of many interesting channels in FM Slack is also #fm17tacticschallenge. The first challenge was 4-5-1 formation with OGC Nice. I was unable to take part in this one but I decided to participate in the second one.

FM17 | Reading FC | part XIX | Updated 4-3-1-2

In the middle of November 2016 I published the fifth part of my Reading save in FM17. It was about my 4-3-1-2 formation and the changes I made after I played the first months of the save with 4-3-3 formation. The 4-3-1-2 tactical set up was changed during the next seasons and I decided to write about it once again.

Some of you wrote me in the recent weeks and months you want to read (but mainly download) the new and updated version of this formation. So there it is.

#FM17 | Goalkeeper Instructions

Hi all, if you follow me on Twitter, you probably saw my tweet during last Sunday about the “Distribute To Full Backs” instruction which I have set to my goalkeeper(s). When I was on my way to my real life job I thought about it while I was stuck in a traffic jam and I decided to write something more about, above 140 characters.

It was one of the first tactical changes I made after a couple of matches when FM17 arrived. I’m not sure if I saw too many long balls during previous versions but during my first matches with this edition, I grew really frustrated that my goalkeeper started each new attack with a long ball to the half line: that was typically the end of our possession as opponent’s defenders easily get the ball.

#FM17 | The Keysi Way | Reading FC | part V | 4-3-1-2

As I wrote at the end of the last part of my save with Reading I decided to change our formation from 4-3-3 to 4-3-1-2. It was very important decision for the third season as I wanted to make bigger impact in the Championship and finish higher than tenth in the league.

This post is not about results in the league and cup competitions but only about the new formation. Season summary will follow in the next post and you can expect more than good results.

#FM17 | The Keysi Way | Reading FC | part II | 4-3-3

As I wrote in the first part of this story about my FM17 save with Reading FC I set up 4-3-3 tactic with control mentality and high structured team shape. The reason why I chose this formation was simply – I wanted to try something new.

It’s a new FM so I did not want to play with same formation like during previous version.

#FM16 | In love with Wide Playmaker

There are many variations of 4-2-3-1 formation around the FM Community during FM16 time. I played with it too during first seasons with Akademisk Boldklub but I changed it to 4-1-4-1 after ten years in charge of the club.

It took some time when team played as I want. Especially some roles did not work and I tested it for more than one year when I was happy with that. One of the most important role is Wide Playmaker.

FM16: My most favorite new features (Review)

I decided I will not write a typical Review like in previous years. When I spent some first hours with the new Football Manager 2016 some time ago I discovered a lot of big and small improvements and new features from which I was happy. This article is not a typical review, it’s list of my most favorite new features which can be very helpful for every player.

FM16: shirts or squares? Functionality video speaks for itself

One of the most discussed new features of Football Manager 2016 was (or still is) Tactics Screen because there are no shirts. FM fans from all around the world, including myself, were little confused, surprised…someone maybe annoyed.

I think people from SI and Miles Jacobson himself just did not expect such a response on this matter. I discovered something like a petition at one forum and users wanted to sent it to Miles because they wanted shirts back in game… Continue reading
